Description

Manthorpe GTV IP Interlocking Concrete Plain Tile Vent Tile - Terracotta / Grey / Brown / Antique Red

The new Manthorpe Interlocking Plain Tile interlocking concrete plain tile ventilator is designed for use with small format interlocking concrete plain roof tiles.

The Manthorpe vent features a unique sliding mechanism to adjust its width to suit the different sizes of tiles available. Thanks to this patented design feature, it is the only vent in the market which suits all three styles of interlocking concrete plain tiles; the Redland DuoPlain, Marley Ashmore and Forticrete Gemini.

This innovative vent tile is designed to provide a quick and simple solution to the problems of roofspace ventilation and mechanical extraction / soil stack termination through a roof covered with small format interlocking concrete plain tiles.

Designed to suit all 3 styles of concrete interlocking plain tiles, the vent is adaptable to be used with the different coverage widths available by simply sliding the top section into the required position for your tile.

The curved, in-line profile helps to maintain an unbroken appearance to the roofline at high or low level with a range of colours available to suit varying roof styles.

The tortured path through the internal weathering geometry is designed to maintain a constant airflow gap of 6,000mm2 whilst channelling any water ingress out of the vent and on to the roof covering below, with the 4mm louvred grill in place to prevent the entry of debris and large nesting insects.

For mechanical extraction, use the Manthorpe GTV-AD Flexi Pipe Adaptor (available separately) and the Manthorpe GRPA Flexible Pipe (available separately) in conjunction with the vent.

Note:

  • This tile vent should not be used to extract hot exhaust gases, nor be placed close to other potentially hot elements of the roof structure.
  • When ventilating at high level, the vent should not be placed on the course directly below the ridge tile.

Fixing

The vent is laid in a broken bond format, taking the place of single tile with no need to cut the tiling battens.

The vent should not be installed on a roof pitch below 22.5 degrees

Prepare the roof tiles in the conventional manner, tiling up to the point at which you require the tile ventilator to be positioned.

NOTE: The vent cannot be placed directly over a rafter.

Directly below the batten that the vent is to be placed on, mark out a rectangle 60mm x 260mm wide on the underlay in line with the centre of where the vent will sit. Also mark an X in the centre of this rectangle from corner to corner.

The ventilator can be used in conjunction with all 3 styles of interlocking concrete plain tile; the Redland DuoPlain, Marley Ashmore and Forticrete Gemini.

See below for details on aligning the vent for use with your chosen profile.

After indentifying the correct position for your style of tile, hold the vent by the interlock and slide the upper surface to the left or right using the top tab to uncover the designated letter for your profile.

Cut the underlay along the diagonal X lines and fold back the triangular tabs to reveal the spigot opening.

Fold the top tab tight up against the batten above it and secure it in position with a staple or tack. 1 Slide right for position A, slide left for postion B.

Insert the vent into the correct position on the roof, making sure the spigot passes fully through the felt so it is accessible from the loftspace.

Ensure that the tile vent sits square and securely over the interlock of the adjacent tile.

Nail the vent down into postion by perforating the skins over the pre-formed holes.

Clip the vent in place using the tile manufacturers specified clips for the relevant tile. Once fixed, continue tiling in the normal manner

Note:

The tile vent should not be used to extract hot exhaust gases, nor be placed close to other potentially hot elements of the roof structure.

When ventilating at high level, the vent should not be placed on the course directly below the ridge tile.

For mechanical extraction, use the Manthorpe GTV-AD Flexi Pipe Adaptor and one of the GRPA Flexible Pipe Range in conjunction with the vent.
