What is Ballast used for?

Ballast is a mixture of sharp sand and smaller stones or pieces of gravel. Ballast has a variety of uses, most commonly to create concrete for a number of landscaping purposes – from the creation of path edgings and bases for sheds or other outdoor buildings to curbs or securing fence posts.
